The slogans of transparency, merit and corruption free government departments on which PTI has came into power may cheat ears but not eyes keeping in view the sorry state of affairs at Literacy and Non Formal Basic Education Department (LNFBED) Attock where scores of children belongs to poor class are deprived of better education facilities due to alleged ‘personal greed’ by the officials concerned, it has learnt.
Academic kits donated by an international NGO to the dept Attock rusting in the dust for over last one year and not handed over to respective schools as thanks to apathy and indifferent attitude of the authorities concerned.
Sources in Punjab Literacy and Non Formal Basic Education Department (LNFBED) told this scribe that an international non- government organization (INGO) Alight, formerly known as the American Refugee Committee, assisting Punjab education department for improving the academic environment with improved access to skills and knowledge on education has donated academic kits for around 120 different schools runs under the administrative control of Punjab Literacy and Non Formal Basic Education Department (LNFBED) Attock in April last year.
These academic kits which include studies related support material for students as well as teacher.
According to MoU signed between INGO and LNFBED these kits should be subsequently handed over to the respective school located in six different tehsils of district Attock within one month of its delivery for its further proper utilization for the enrolled students.
However, thanks to apathy and indifferent attitude of the authorities of LNFBED Attock, no single kit was further delivered to any institution of the district so far.
Inside sources further said that interestingly the highest of the bureaucratic and indifferent attitude of the authorities concerned could be judged from the fact that fake certificate of delivery of the kits to the respective school was submitted to the INGO as well as provincial authorities of LNFBED Lahore.
