One of the youngest officers of Pakistan Administrative Service, Dr Nadeem Shafiq Malik has joined National History & Literary Heritage (NHLH) Division as Secretary.
With Masters and PhD degrees in History from Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU), M.A Punjabi from the University of the Punjab, M.Sc in Women Studies, M.Phil in Pakistani Languages & Literature, M.Phil and Ph.D. in Iqbal Studies from the Allama Iqbal Open University and M.Phil in International Relations from the National Defence University, Dr Nadeem Shafiq has contributed more than seventy research articles focusing on history, society, language, literature, foreign relations & politics of Pakistan.
He has also carried out research on different aspects of life and works of Allama Muhammad Iqbal and his work has been published in reputed research journals of leading universities and learned bodies of the country.
Dr Nadeem Shafiq has also authored/edited more than 30 books that have earned him countrywide recognition as an authority on Iqbaliyat as well as the Pakistani languages.

Immediately after taking over the charge (on July 12, 2019) Dr Nadeem Shafiq has held a number of meetings with regard to improving NHLH Division’s efficiency and expediting as well as launching various projects.
One such meeting held on Monday in which a number of publishers and booksellers of Lahore. Minister for Education & Professional Training Shafqat Mehmood chaired the meeting.
It was decided during the meeting that educational institutions would be asked to purchase books for their libraries from original publisher. On government level, a culture of book gifts presentation will be promoted and the year 2020 will be declared as “Book Year.”
On the occasion of “Iqbal Day” book fair will be organized besides introducing publishing as a subject in syllabus. Managing Director National Book Foundation (NBF) was also present on the occasion. In the meeting, the publishers and booksellers expressed gratitude to the Minister and the new Secretary of the NHLH for paying heed to their grievances.
