The Punjab government has prepared a strategy to increase road taxes, which is feared to put an additional burden on citizens who are already moaning under the load of inflation.
Punjab Highway and Irrigation Departments have sent proposals to the Tax Reforms Wing in this regard.
It has been proposed to increase Rs10 road tax on cars, Rs20 on minibus wagons, pickups cars and commercial vans and Rs100-Rs200 on trucks, trailers and heavy vehicles.
The Resource Mobilization Committee will seek final approval from the Cabinet on raising the road tax, the TV channel reported.
