No recreation during Eid holidays due to Corona: NCOC

Due to the corona virus situation in the country, the NCOC has extended the restrictions, which will make Eidul Fitr a simple celebration this year.

In view of the growing threat of corona virus, there will be no leisure during the Eid holidays in Lahore as in the rest of the country.

All entertainment and public places in Lahore will remain closed from May 8 to 16. All public transport will be closed during the Eid holidays, while transport from one city to another will remain closed.

Sources said that people turn to historical places during the holidays and keeping in view the danger, historical and recreational places including Murree, Swat, Kalam or the beaches will also be closed. All roads, restaurants, hotels and shopping malls will also be closed during Eid holidays.

According to a notification issued by the Home Ministry, it was decided at the NCOC meeting that the Eid holidays from May 8 to 16 would also be included in it while ensuring uninterrupted supply of electricity to keep homes safe during this time.

The Home Ministry has issued the declaration to Home Secretaries and other concerned officers across the country.

Corona attacks continue to escalate, with 54 people killed in Lahore during the third wave.

A further 1306 new cases of Corona virus were reported in the city.

There are 1278 patients admitted in public and private hospitals out of which 822 confirmed and 456 suspected patients of Corona are undergoing treatment. 277 patients have been shifted to ventilator as their condition is critical.

Speaking of the overall situation in the country, 142 more people have died due to the deadly corona virus across the country, while 4,487 new cases have come to light in the last 24 hours.

According to the National Command and Operations Center, the total number of deaths from corona in Pakistan has reached 17,329 while the total number of affected people has reached 84,939.
