As per directives of Justice Jawad Hassan, Judge Lahore High Court, an ordinance for the establishment of Special Courts for Overseas Pakistanis in Punjab has been prepared by the Lahore High Court.
A meeting was held to discuss the ordinance and rules & regulations at the OPC Office.
The meeting was attended by Vice Chairperson Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab Ch. Waseem Akhtar, Commissioner Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab Syed Khadim Abbas, Director General Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab Ishrat ullah Khan Niazi and Director (Legal) OPC Raja Muhammad Zubair.
Participants from Lahore High Court included Sher Abbas Awan Additional District and Session Judge Senior Research Officer LHC Johnson Bernard, Director Overseas Pakistanis Complaint Cell/ Additional Registrar Lahore High Court, Ch. Saeed Akhtar, Additional Registrar Monitoring LHC/Additional Secretary District Judiciary, Arif Javed Dar, Deputy Registrar/ Secretary Overseas Pakistanis Cell, Ahmed Zia, Civil Judge/ Research Officer LHC, Kashif Pasha, Civil Judge/ Research Officer LHC.
Deputy Director Legislation Rabia Latif also attended the meeting. OPC Ordinance, rules and regulations for Special Courts and the number of Overseas Courts to be established in districts of Punjab was also discussed at length in the meeting.
While talking on this occasion, Vice Chairperson Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab Ch. Waseem Akhtar said that Lahore High Court and Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab will have to work together for the expeditious disposal of complaints and provision of relief to the overseas Pakistanis.
