Assures LPC delegation of resolution to problems of journalists community

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Thursday declared that the Punjab government has approved a fund of Rs1.5 billion for purchase of a million shots of the coronavirus vaccine.

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar talking to media persons after visiting Minar-i-Pakistan Vaccination Centre here on Thursday, he said the Punjab government has allocated Rs 1.5 billion for buying vaccines.

“Our first priority is to administer frontline health workers and so far overall we have administered around 0.4 million people in the province,” he said.

Usman Buzdar said that the Punjab government has set up 128 vaccination centres across the province.

“The pressure is mounting on our hospitals and compliance of corona SOPs is the only way out from the current situation,” Buzdar emphasized and added that demand for oxygen cylinder has increased by seven percent in the province and there are seven cities in the province having over 12 percent positivity ratio.

He clarified that people should get shots of this vaccine as it is approved after tests and trials. “We are also heading toward vaccine making on our own.

Adhering to SOPs is the way out from the situation as best healthcare systems around the world are also facing problems.”

The chief minister inspected the corona vaccination centre at LDA Sports Complex and inaugurated the ambulance service for the pick and drop of elderly citizens and physically challenged persons.

The CM appreciated the step taken by the health department as this will facilitate differently-abled persons and senior citizens to vaccinate themselves without difficulty.

Meanwhile, a delegation of Lahore Press Club (LPC), led by its president Arshad Ansari, called on Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and discussed the resolution of problems of journalist colony at Harbanspura.

The CM assured to early resolution to the issues, saying that problems of the journalist community will be solved on a priority basis.

Instructions have been issued for the resolution of problems relating to LDA, Wasa and other agencies, he assured.

Meanwhile, the CM pronounced that every citizen will be given universal health coverage by the end of this year and the journalist community will also be provided Sehat Insaf Cards.

Lahore Press Club is the best press club in the country and the welfare of the journalist community is a part of PTI’s priorities, he continued.

The delegation expressed gratitude to the CM for taking a personal interest in resolution of their issues.

LPC senior vice president Javed Farooqui, secretary Zahid Chaudhry and joint secretary Khawaja Naseer were among the delegation. SACM Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, Secretary Information and DGPR were also present.

Meanwhile, CM Usman Buzdar expressed a deep sense of sorrow over the death of CM Office Protocol Officer Hamid Raza Sheikh due to corona and extended sympathies to the bereaved family.

Usman Buzdar also expressed a deep sense of sorrow over the loss of precious human lives in a road accident near Burewala and extended sympathies to the bereaved heirs.

On the other, the chief minister took notice of the fire incident in Urdu Bazar Rawalpindi and directed the administration to utilize every possible resource to extinguish the fire.

The CM also sought a report from the administration and directed to hold the investigation.
