Police recover 33000 cartridges, two arrested

District Police seized a huge cache of ammunition and arrested two accused during a search and strike operation in the limits of Shaheed Mureed Akbar (SMA) police station, District Police Officer (DPO) Sajjad Ahmad Sahibzada said on Monday.

Addressing a media briefing at his office, DPO Sajjad Ahmad Sahibzada said that under the supervision of DSP headquarters Iqbal Baloch, SHO SMA Police station Faheem Mumtaz held a surprise check of vehicles near Mazyani Korona on Jandola avenue.

During the checking, police recovered 14 bags of ammunition filled with 33000 cartridges of different bore guns from a pick-up bearing registration number NLI-134 and arrested the driver of the vehicle who was identified as Sakhi Zaman and his companion Rahmatullah, both residents of district Lakki Marwat.

Sajjad Ahmad Sahibzada noted that a case had been registered at SMA police station and an interrogation was underway to determine where the seized ammunition was being shifted.

Meanwhile, district police chalked out the traffic plan for Rickshaws for better traffic control.

DPO Sajjad Ahmad Sahibzada informed media persons that in order to control the increasing traffic mishaps; District Police after due consultation with Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) and Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) devised a new traffic plan.
