Islamabad closes major weekly bazaars over fire safety concerns

Islamabad Closes Weekly Bazaars Over Fire Safety Concerns

ISLAMABAD – Authorities have ordered the closure of Islamabad’s H-9 and G-6 weekly bazaars from October 16 until the completion of fire safety measures and the issuance of the required clearance.

The Directorate of Municipal Administration has issued a notification in this regard, stating the two markets will remain closed until they obtain fire safety clearance from Capital Emergency Services and the Capital Development Authority (CDA).

The directive requires both bazaars to ensure the implementation of necessary safety measures before reopening. The markets will not be permitted to resume operations until the relevant authorities issue clearance confirming compliance with fire safety requirements.

The closure order was issued with the approval of the Chief Officer of the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI).

Officials have directed the administrations concerned to ensure that all required safety arrangements are completed to meet the prescribed standards.

The notification makes fire safety clearance a mandatory condition for reopening the H-9 and G-6 weekly bazaars. No date for their reopening has been specified, as operations will remain suspended until the required approvals are obtained.
