Addressing a conference on converting coal to gas and liquid (diesel) on Wednesday at a local hotel on Wednesday, Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh said that the federation must take care of Sindh’s constitutional rights.
He said that Sindh produces more than 2400 MMCFD gas while we can hardly get 900 MMCFD gas.
However, according to Article 158 of the Constitution, we have the first right to the gas produced in Sindh.
He said that only by working together and with mutual understanding will the problems be solved and only by working together will the country and the nation is better.
Describing the consultative conference held with experts for making gas and liquid (diesel) from coal as an important need of the hour, Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh appreciated the efforts of conference organizer Ms. Naheed Memon and said that Thar coal is Pakistan’s It is a guarantee of meeting the energy needs on the condition that a comprehensive and long-term plan be made for the utilization of this great resource provided by nature for various purposes and that a policy be formulated in the light of expert opinion in this regard.
So that by converting the coal reserves of Thar into gas and liquid (diesel) the cost of exporting these goods can be saved.
Energy Minister Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh said that 660 MW of electricity generated from Thar coal is being supplied to the national grid daily and an additional 660 MW will be added to this supply by the end of next year.
He said that it was the dream of our martyred chairperson Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto that Thar would change Pakistan so his party government worked on the interpretation of the dream of Shaheed Mohtarma and made this dream come true.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Petroleum Nadeem Babar, Ms. Naheed Memon and other experts from the business community and oil and gas sector addressed the conference in detail and highlighted the scientific and economic aspects of converting Thar coal into gas and liquid.
