KEMU rendering world class academic services: Uzbek envoy

His Excellency Mr. Aibak Arif, Ambassador of Uzbekistan in Pakistan, and Syed Ali Asad Gilani, Ambassador of Pakistan to Uzbekistan visited King Edward Medical University Lahore.

The purpose of the visit was to discuss bilateral cooperation. Vice-Chancellor King Edward Medical University Prof Khalid Masood Gondal highlighted academic, research, and other projects of the University.

He briefed the visitors about 160 years of excellence of KEMU in the medical profession. Prof Balquis Shabbir also briefed the distinguished visitors on the Department of Telemedicine established under the directives of LEMU Chancellor Ch Sarwar.

On the occasion, the Uzbek Ambassador said that it is a matter of great pride for him to visit Lahore and this historic prestigious medical institution. He thanked the honorable Chancellor for facilitating this visit.

He said that we have come here to talk about enhancing cooperation in the field of science and technology.

He applauded the invaluable services of Prof Khalid Masood Gondal in the field of medical education.

“The fact is that you have provided health care services to millions of people and we would like that the citizens of Uzbekistan also to be benefitted from King Edward’s Health Care System” he added.

An MoU is planned to be signed in the future. We would like to hold Webinars and Seminars on issues of mutual interest which would expand bilateral relations.

The establishment of the Telemedicine Deptt is an innovative step, role model, and an example for all.

He further said that we are grateful to Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar for allowing them to visit King Edward and the Department of Telemedicine.

Syed Ali Asad Gillani also spoke and said, “It is a great honor for me to visit KEMU. We must move forward with cooperation at all levels in the future.”

MS Mayo Hospital Dr. Iftikhar Ahmed highlighted the services rendered by Mayo Hospital for the suffering humanity, especially during the Corona Pandemic, and thanked the distinguished guests for coming to this University.

On behalf of the KEMU Faculty, shields were presented to the distinguished guests by Prof Khalid Masood Gondal. The visiting Ambassador Aybek Arif also presented a shield to the VC.
