A child Awais aged 15 was found hanging at a poultry farm in Raja Jang, Kasur. He was appointed at this farm for work about four days ago.

While talking to Pakistan Observer, father of the victim Muhammad Mustafa on Sunday said that he got a call from the poultry farm owner that his child is seriously ill and that he should reach the spot immediately.

“When I arrived, I saw my child hanging in the poultry farm and was already” dead, Mustafa said. “My child was young; I left him at the poultry farm four days ago.
Why would anyone kill him? I suspected that he has been raped or attempted for rape and killed on resistance.”

However, the district police have another story. They believe that rape never happened and the initial medical report confirms that although the child had several wounds of torture on his body; the rape never occurred.

The murder of the child can be of many reasons, including suspecting theft, fighting with other employees or suicide, said the DPO Kasur Imran Kishwar while talking to this scribe.
Police have registered an FIR No. 71/21 PS Raja Jang Kasur U/S 302,147,149 of the PPC. Seven suspected employees of the poultry farm have been arrested, and we cannot say anything until the investigation is done, the DPO said.

After the incident, thousands of people staged a protest at Steel Bagh Crossing on Firozpur Road and the road remained blocked for many hours.

The protestors demanded that Police should add the sections of rape and child abuse in the FIR. They believed that the Police should not hide the crime under the carpet to make the authorities feel okay. The protestors’ initial demand was to call Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on the crime scene; however, the district police officer had successful negotiations, and later the Police opened the road.
