The committee constituted for conducting elections of the Islamabad High Court Journalists Association (IHCJA) on Saturday announced the results according to which the panel led by Saqib Bashir of Express News and Ehtisham Kiani from 24 News has been elected unopposed.
According to chairman of the committee, Azam Khan (BBC) only one panel had submitted the nomination papers by January 16, 12:00 P.M that was set as the deadline for submission of papers for nomination.
The panel has been elected unopposed and according to the results, Saqib Bashir (Reporter, Express News) has been elected President, Ehtisham Kiani of ‘24 News’ Secretary of the IHJA.
Among other elected office-bearers Shehzad Malik (BBC) has been declared Senior Vice President, Ambreen Ali (Capital TV) as Vice President; Zeshan Syed (Neo News) as Finance Secretary; Tahir Naseer (Dawn News) as Senior Joint Secretary; Farah Mah Jabeen (Hum News) as Joint Secretary; Hussain Chaudhry (92 News) as Press Secretary.
Members of the Governing Body elected unopposed include Zubair Qureshi (Pakistan Observer), Asif Naveed (Aaj News), Raja Basharat (Daily Jinnah), Najeeb Malik (Jahan-e-Pakistan), Muhammad Faiz (Daily Ummat) and Burhan Bukhari (Abb Takk News).
The election results were announced in the Press Room of the Islamabad High Court building by Chairman Election Committee Azam Khan (BBC Urdu) and members Shah Khalid (ARY News) and Riazul Haq (Hum News).
