The Punjab Housing and Urban Development Department, under the Naya Pakistan Housing Program, has decided to launch a Rural Housing Pilot Project in four districts of the province in collaboration with the social welfare organization Akhuwat. Under this project, houses will be constructed in selected villages of these districts and provided to the poor and homeless people on easy instalments.
This decision was taken during a meeting in connection with on Rural Housing Pilot Project, here on Wednesday. Punjab Minister for Housing Mian Mehmoodur Rashid chaired the meeting. CEO Akhuwat Dr. Amjad Saqib, Secretary Housing Zafar Nasrullah, Add. Secretary Zahid Sohail, General Secretary Housing Task Force Atif Ayub and Deputy Secretary Mumtaz Ahmed were also present on this occasion. Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed said that the Rural Housing Pilot Project will be launched in the selected villages of Okara, Kasur, Sheikhupura and Jhang in a month. He said that sub-committees have been formulated for the launch of this Pilot Project. Rural Housing is an important part of Naya Pakistan Housing Project. Arrangements for constructing of houses in these districts are being given final shape. Matters related to Rural Housing Pilot Project were discussed in detail during the meeting.
Grand OP AGAINST QABZA GROUP
Punjab Additional Chief Secretary Iram Bukhari has said that we shall not tolerate the illegal possession on the lands bought from the hard-earned money of overseas Pakistanis. Overseas Pakistanis are an asset to the nation. The list of 261 complaints related to this matter shall be forwarded to stakeholder departments like Lahore Development Authority, Punjab Police, Cooperatives Department, Punjab Anti-corruption Establishment along with District Administration Lahore shall be forwarded for expeditious disposal. These complaints will be resolved on priority basis so that overseas Pakistanis get relief. She expressed these views while chairing a high-powered meeting in Civil Secretariat. Director General OPC Naila Baqil, Director Admn OPC Tayyib Farid were also present in the meeting. Additional Chief Secretary further said that a grand operation will be initiated to rescue the lands of overseas Pakistanis from illegal possession and the necessary action to be taken against the culprits. She further said that a meeting to review the progress shall be held fortnightly. ACS Punjab gave directions to resolve the complaints and provide relief to the overseas Pakistanis at the earliest.
