Special Assistant to Punjab Chief Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Monday said that the incumbent government under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan would continue across the board accountability and will take it to its logical conclusion.
Talking to a private news channel here on Monday, she urged the opposition parties to avoid holding public meetings in the wake of the second wave of coronavirus and adopt a constitutional and legal way of toppling the government by submitting a no-confidence motion in the national and provincial assemblies.
Dr. Firdous said the incumbent PTI government was not afraid of conspiracies being hatched by the opposition parties to topple democratically elected government and expressed her satisfaction that such attempts would not succeed. The PTI government would complete its constitutional tenure and it would win the next general elections of 2023 with thumping majority on basis of its five years performance, she claimed.
Replying to a question, the SACM said that the corrupt opposition parties were fighting for sake of power and the PDM did not have any interest to address the problems of poor people. The PML-N is using all negative tactics to make their dark future bright but their all lies have already been exposed before the public, she said while replying to another question.
Dr. Firdous said some political parties were using their workers as ‘cannon fodder’ to hide their misdeeds, adding the only way forward for the PML-N party was to give up corruption and stay in politics of the people. She said Prime Minister Imran Khan had moved the country on the path of development and he (PM) had played a leading role to improve the national economy.
Meanwhile, SACM on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the apex committee meeting chaired by CM Usman Buzdar reviewed in detail latest corona situation in the province and decided to take all necessary steps to control second wave of corona and make concerted efforts for effective implementation of corona SOPs.
Addressing a press conference here at DGPR, she said that numbers of corona patients are increasing wih each passing day across Punjab. The government will fully utilize all the resources for the treatment of corona patients and the military as well as civil administration will jointly strive for saving lives, she added. She said that steps are being taken at every level to stop the spread of corona and strict action will be taken against the SOPs violators.
She said that the government has decided to establish “situation room” for ensuring corona SOPs. The Prime Minister Imran Khan is not in favor of complete lockdown but in case of any emergency situation, the government will be left with no option but a complete lockdown, she added.
She said that unemployed leaders of immature opposition are responsible for spreading corona. The decision to implement complete lockdown in Sindh and instigating people to take part in meetings in Punjab shows the hypocrisy of PPP, she further said.
She said that PDM faced bitter defeat in Multan and it would face the same fate in the city of Lahore. The people should remain beware of PDM’s jugglery and political turn rounds. The government is ensuring the rule of law and the law will prevail in Lahore.
