The number of coronavirus cases and fatalities are multiplying at a faster rate in Pakistan now as the country recorded 2,443 new infections and 32 deaths in a single day.
With the rapid addition of news infections almost every day, the positivity rate has reached 6.2 percent. According to the latest update issued by the National Command and Operation Centre on Sunday morning, the death toll now stood at 7,141. Furthermore, 2,738 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Sindh, 2,471 in Punjab, 1,309 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 156 in Balochistan, 255 in Islamabad, 93 in Gilgit Baltistan and 119 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Nearly 323,225 have recovered thus far, while confirmed cases hiked to 356,904. At least 1,377 patients were said to be in critical condition across the country. Pakistan has so far conducted 4,921,050 coronavirus tests and 39,410 during the last 24 hours (Saturday).
Sindh remained the worst-hit province followed by Punjab and other provinces. Nearly 154,738 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 109,993 in Punjab, 41,990 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 23,994 in Islamabad, 16,393 in Balochistan, 5,349 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and 4,447 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
