Govt wants Pak films to regain lost ground: Governor

A delegation of Pakistan Film Producers Association called on Sindh Governor Imran Ismail at Governor House on Wednesday. The delegation was led by Mian Amjad Farzand, Chairman of the Association. The delegation included Naeem Ashraf Rana, Shahid Mahmood, Muhammad Ejaz Kamran, Saud Ashraf Qasmi, Parveen Sangeeta, Satish Chandra Anand and Shehzad. The meeting discussed in detail the development and promotion of the film sector in Pakistan, the use of modern technology and other important issues including the assistance and initiatives of the Federal Government in this regard. The delegation requested the Governor to give regular industry status to the film sector. On this occasion, the Governor said that in the past Pakistani films have made a name for themselves all over the world. At that time people were anxiously waiting for Pakistani films. He said that the federal government would extend all possible help and cooperation for the revival of the film sector as the government was committed to ensuring entertainment opportunities for the people. He further said that good and quality story is essential for the success of films, it is important to have entertainment as well as social reform aspect in films. The delegation suggested loans on easy terms afor film producers and setting up of cinema halls in all major projects. He said that a comprehensive film policy for revival of film sector should be announced as soon as possible and the policy should include suggestions of the association. The Governor said that comprehensive recommendations should be made for all the issues and their solutions.
