An accountability court (AC) on Saturday ordered to allow home-cooked food and other facilities in the jail to Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz Sharif.
According to details, Accountability Court Judge Jawadul Hassan heard the petition of Hamza Shehbaz. The application read that the PML-N leader is the opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly and he is being subjected to political revenge in jail as not providing facilities allowed as per law is a violation of fundamental rights.
The petitioner requested the court to allow home-cooked meals and other facilities be provided in the jail. Hamza Shehbaz is in Kot Lakhpat Jail on judicial remand in money-laundering case.
An accountability court in Lahore has approved the request of PML-N leader Hamza Shahbaz to provide him with homemade food in jail.
The request was filed by Hamza’s lawyer Amjad Pervaiz. It said Hamza isn’t being provided the facilities that he has a right to under the law.
He said that he is being made a target of political victimisation. Hamza, the leader of the opposition in the Punjab Assembly, is being investigated by NAB in the Ramzan Sugar Mills, Saaf Pani and assets beyond known means of income cases. He was arrested by NAB on June 11, 2019.
