Need stressed to focus on improving family planning services delivery

The Government of Sindh would include voices of women from peri-urban, rural and remote areas to enhance accountability of service delivery on family planning and reproductive health and its democratic control. This was stated by Dr. Talib Lashari Techincal Advisior, Population Welfare Department Sindh while speaking at policy dialogue on “women voices four better choices” in Family Planning programs in Sindh organized by Costed Implementation Plan (CIP) Population Welfare Departmentand Forum for Safe Motherhood /White RibbonAlliance Pakistan. Dr. Lashari further said that sessions with women will be held in each district during next phase under FP2030. He emphasized that four areas under the “What Women Want” project included information, availability,accessibility and quality. All the areas will be focused to enabling environment. While women empowerment will be a cross cutting area. Speaking at the occasionDr. Yasmeen Qazi, Consultant, BMGF/RIZ Consulting emphasized the need for focusing on quality aspects in improving the family planning services delivery while Dr. Azra Ahsan, Vice President, NCMNH underscored the need to provide services in a respectful manner. Dr. MehwishMubarik, Deputy Director, Clinics, Population welfare Department emphasized the need to improve the services delivery and that women could play an important role in improving the services by letting the managers know about the issues faced by them. The event was attended by representatives of CIP, Population Welfare department and development partners working for FP services delivery in the province.
