Dr Yasmin led from front in Corona pandemic: US CG Minister receives USAID-donated 46 ventilators at a ceremony at PKLI

Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid on Tuesday, on behalf of the Pakistani nation, expressed gratitude to the US Government and American people for donation of 46 ventilators.
“Corona Pandemic has affected the entire world. By the grace of Almighty Allah, the Corona pandemic affected Pakistan comparatively much less.”
Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid was speaking a ceremony held to hand over the ventilators donated by the USAID at the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI) here on Tuesday.
US Consul General in Lahore Ms. Catherine Rodriguez handed over the ventilators to the minister. Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department Barrister Nabeel Awan, Chairman Board of Director PKLI Prof Javed Gardezi, Dean PKLI Prof Hafiz Ejaz, Hospital Director Dr. Tazein Zia, Additional Secretary Development Dr. Asif Tufaiul, Prof Javed Chaudhry and other senior officials were also present on the occasion.
The minister said that Pakistani doctors, nurses and paramedical staff valiantly faced the pandemic. “By 11th June, we had a large number of critically ill Covid-19 patients at Punjab hospitals”, she recalled, adding that the 46 ventilators donated by the USAID will be very helpful in fighting the Corona pandemic. These ventilators will be distributed among different government hospitals of Punjab. For service to humanity, the great friendship of Pakistan and America will continue to flourish.”
Secretary SHME Department Barrister Nabeel Awan paid rich tribute to doctors, nurses and paramedical staff who served Covid-19 patients.
In her speech, US Consul General Catherine Rodriguez said, “We greatly appreciate Pakistan’s immense success in controlling Corona pandemic and we salute Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid for her great achievement. I always witnessed Dr. Yasmin Rashid leading from the front. The United States of America will continue to support Pakistani people.”
Meanwhile, Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid approved the extension of contracts for ad-hoc employees of the Fatima Jinnah Medical University and its affiliated institutions in the Syndicate Meeting of the FJWU here on Tuesday.
Vice Chancellor FJWU Professor Amir Zaman Khan, Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Shirin Khawar, MPA Ayesha Nawaz, Medical Superintendant Ganga Ram Hospital Dr. Ehtesham, MS Mozang Teaching Hospital and other officials also attended the meeting.
Registrar FJWI present the agena items of the meeting. Minister Health inquired about the progress of work at Ganga Ram Mother and Child Hospital. The Minister approved the decisions of the 20th Syndicate Meeting.
The Minister granted approval for extension of contracts of ad-hoc employees of the FJWU and its affiliated institutions.
The Minister approved funds for revamping of Pathology Lab and granted sanction for positions of Assistant Professor Urology. The FJWU team also presented progress on development of hostel facility `in Mozang Teaching Hospital.
