Pakistan demanded to the United Nations that we have a strong mechanism for the return of stolen assets from developing countries.
Pakistan’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Amir Khan, in a statement to the second committee of the General Assembly said that destination countries need to punish illegal financiers and eliminate “safe havens” for such money. A fair and equitable tax system with minimal corporate tax is essential to avoid profiteering and tax evasion and avoidance by multinational corporations.
“ Bodies set up to monitor illicit financial flows should not be used for financial or political coercion in developing countries.
Pakistan repsentative said that the United Nations needs to establish mechanisms to monitor and coordinate the work of various public and private agencies dealing with illicit financial flows.
