Customs officials seize smuggled items worth millions

In two different bids on Friday, Customs officials recovered dry fruits, liquor and garments worth millions of rupees. As per details Customs officials conducted two major operations at Allama Iqbal International Airport (AIIAP) and recovered ladies shawls and number of bottles of liquor from the luggage of passengers coming from Dubai.
At AIIAP customs officials in a major operation seized a large consignment of drugs, ladies shawls and bottles of liquor recovered from the luggage of passengers coming from Dubai.
While in another bid customs officials recovered heavy quantity of dry fruit of worth Rs. 10 million from a truck drive coming from Quetta.
According to sources, Abdul Jabbar resident of Abbottabad came to Lahore from Dubai. AirBlue flight PA411 arrived in Lahore from Dubai. During the check, 2 shawls weighing 2 kg were recovered from the passenger’s luggage. Sources said that the total value of the shawls was Rs. five million.
During the operation, 60 bottles of liquor were recovered from the luggage of various passengers. Bottles of liquor were recovered from passengers coming to Lahore from Abu Dhabi and Dubai. According to sources, passengers named Ahsan Mumtaz, Ali Shah and Zaman reached Lahore. 60 bottles of liquor were recovered from the goods, customs officials seized the liquor and started further operation.
Deputy Collector Traffic Airport Saqib-ur-Rehman commended the staff. Deputy Collector Traffic Airport Saqib-ur-Rehman said that the passenger is appealed not to deliver prohibited items.
Customs Intelligence operation on Lahore Sheikhupura Road, seized dried fruits worth Rs 10 million. The fruits were being brought from Quetta to Lahore. Dried fruits include figs, almonds, pistachios and other items. Customs officials say all goods have been confiscated and an investigation has been launched. Customs officials say the dried fruit will be returned after paying customs duty.
