Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Thursday claimed that the new local bodies (LB) system will empower the masses in real sense and a new era of composite development will begin.
“The government will take development process to the public’s threshold by transforming local bodies institutions.” Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar stated at a meeting held to review the new local bodies system at his office. The Punjab LG Secretary briefed the participants about the local bodies affairs.
Addressing the meeting, the CM said that local bodies had failed to resolve public problems in the past while the new local bodies system is in accordance with the public needs and authority will be devolved at grassroots in the real sense. The CM reiterated that local bodies’ representatives will be empowered and the new system will bring an end to the status quo. It will empower the citizens and public problems will be solved at the grassroots, he said.
The CM directed that local bodies should show no negligence in fulfilling their fundamental duties and cleaning process should be ensured. The streets and commercial areas should be kept neat and clean, he said. He added most modern machinery is being provided to the local bodies for cleanliness and made it clear that no negligence will be tolerated in the cleanliness of drains for draining out rainwater.
Provincial Ministers – Raja Basharat, Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed, Dr Yasmin Rashid, Advisor Asif Mehmood, President PTI Central Punjab Ijaz Chaudhry, President PTI Northern Punjab Sadaqat Ali Abbasi, Secretary Good Governance Committee Ijaz Hussain Manhais, Chief Secretary, Chairman P&D and others attended the meeting.
CM VISITS MOHSIN GORAYA’S RESIDENCE
Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar visited the residence of senior journalist Mohsin Goraya and condoled with him over the death of his father Ch. Faqir Muhammad Goraya. He offered Fateha for the departed soul and prayed that may Allah Almighty rest the departed soul in eternal peace.
CM SEEKS REPORT ON RAPE INCIDENT
Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar has taken strict notice of an incident of molestation of a woman on the motorway and sought a report from IG Police. He directed to arrest the criminals at the earliest and the affected woman be provided justice at any cost. The criminals deserve strict punishment under the law, he stressed. I am personally monitoring the progress made in this case and the IGP has been directed to early arrest the criminals, the CM said. The investigation is being done scientifically and the perpetrators will be given strict punishment, he further said.
