Preparations for the local body elections are in the final stages and the PTI has given the task to the workers to participate in the local body elections.
According to sources, the Election Commission of Pakistan will complete delimitation of constituencies by September. It has been decided to hold the first phase of local body elections in November-December. Instructions have been issued to set up offices at the street level and run public relations campaigns.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission has extended the schedule of constituencies for holding local body elections in Punjab. Now, the preliminary list of constituencies will be changed from August 21, 2020 to September 17, 2020. Objections to the preliminary list of constituencies from September 18 to 2. Can be submitted by October. The objections will be decided by October 17. The final list of constituencies will be published on October 25.
Other parties, including the PML-N and the PPP, have not yet shown seriousness in participating in the local body elections, but political circles say that after the delimitation is completed, a local body campaign will be launched at the street level. It will be seen in full swing.
On the other hand, PML-Q has proposed to hold local body elections on party basis. PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has said that my suggestion is that local body elections should be held on party basis.
I will take full part. All political parties should field their own candidates and create such a tradition so that the elections are fair and transparent.
