Four canals coming out of Sukkur barrage closed

Irrigation department of Sindh has closed four cannals coming out of Sukkur barrage in the wake of flood situation in the river Indus.
According to details, flood is recorded in the river Indus after the recent rains while the flood situation has created in Kutcha areas along with the urban areas.
The irrigation department sources said that a lower level flood is being recorded at the Guddu barrage while it has flow of water 2 lakh 37 thousands cusecs while the same water current will flow from Sukkur barrage on Thursday.
The spokesman of Sukkur barrage Abdul Aziz Soomro said that the recent rains created the urban flood but it will not affect the mostly areas of the river Indus and Kutcha areas but if more rains were lashed in the mountain areas then flood situation can be created in the river Indus.
The spokesman said that heavy rains have already lashed in Dadu Canal or Mithi in Thar, if canals water goes into the river Indus then it creates problem for the people. That’s why we have closed down the four canals completely and lowered the water in the three canals.
