PML-N General Secretary and ex-finance minister Muftah Ismail has slammed the incumbent government over sky high inflation. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, he said GDP in our government was 5 and now a negative 4 percent. “Flour was Rs 35 per kg, sugar was Rs 53. Flour is Rs 70. Sugar is being sold at Rs 100. The flour is being smuggled to Afghanistan.” Miftah said, “We borrowed Rs 10 billion to generate 13,000 MW of electricity. We built the motorway and taxes were low at our tenure.” He said in two years FBR has seen five chairmen, adding that circular debt has risen to exponential heights, but the worst load shedding continues unabated. “I can’t say that Khan’s intention is clear or not. Take anything medicine, electricity and flour. You are making everything expensive.” He warned that If the government did not import sugar, the rate of sugar would increase more, adding the flour has grown because of their incompetence He cautioned that 7 million people will likely be unemployed, saying more than a million have fallen below the poverty line
