9 Pakistanis, including women & children, martyred in Afghan Taliban’s cross-border attacks

ISLAMABAD – At least nine civilians, including three women and six children, have been martyred, according to local administration sources.

Officials in Bajaur say the Deputy Commissioner has issued a detailed list of the victims and injured, confirming the scale of the tragedy and identifying those affected in the incident. The documentation has provided official confirmation of the human cost of the shelling.

According to authorities, between March and April 2026, mortar shells were fired from across the border into several areas of Bajaur, including Mamund, Salarzai, and surrounding localities. The attacks reportedly caused widespread panic among residents and led to civilian casualties across multiple villages.

Authorities said the documented list of names issued by the district administration has removed any ambiguity regarding the human and material losses caused by the shelling.

In response, security sources claim that the Pakistan Army carried out a precise and targeted counter-response, striking only alleged militant military positions and gun installations, while asserting that no civilian areas in Afghanistan were hit during the operation.

Officials further described repeated targeting of women and children as “deeply tragic,” while military statements emphasized a measured and professional response under operational guidelines.
