Pakistan has reported 36 deaths in the last 24 hours by the novel Coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 368,665. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 7,561 on Friday.
According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center, 2,738 persons tested positive for Covid-19 in the past 24 hours.
Sindh remains the worst-hit province by the pandemic in terms of cases followed by Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Punjab has overtaken Sindh in most number of casualties.
The Punjab government on Friday imposed a ban on indoor weddings and other ceremonies on Friday implementing National Command and Operation Centre’s decision to limit the spread of coronavirus.
Wedding hall owners had earlier rejected the NCOC decision of banning indoor weddings, saying that they could not shut down their venues as they had collected advance payments for bookings.
Meanwhile, according to a notification issued by Punjab’s Secretary Primary and Secondary Health Care Captain (retd) Muhammad Usman, the ban would last until January 31 whereas wedding and other ceremonies would be allowed only in open spaces.
