About 18.5% of employees in Pakistan have made IT-related mistakes due to a lack of cybersecurity knowledge, highlighting the need for continuous workplace cyber awareness and training.
Other major causes of IT errors included being in a hurry (20.5%), fatigue or stress (16%), excessive notifications (16%) and oversight (15%).
The Kaspersky survey, “Cybersecurity in the Workplace: Employee Knowledge and Behavior,” covered employees across the Middle East, Türkiye and Africa (META) region.
The study also found widespread digital clutter, with 37% of respondents having 10–20 desktop icons, while 36.5% had even more. Around 30% kept more than 10 browser tabs open at a time.
Kaspersky warned that digital distractions and information overload can reduce concentration and increase vulnerability to mistakes and social engineering attacks.
The company urged employees to declutter their digital workspaces, limit notifications, close unnecessary browser tabs and uninstall unused applications.
It also called on organizations to provide regular cybersecurity training and establish clear policies on passwords, software installation and the safe use of AI tools.
