KARACHI – A young YouTuber was shot dead in Sakhi Hasan area of the city during filming a video on a cricket match amidst the fervor of the T20 World Cup 2024.
The victim was identified as 24 years old Saad Ahmed.
The incident took place at bustling Serena mobile market in Sakhi Hasan area.
Saad was making video related to fervor about the T20 World Cup by talking to the local shopkeepers and the businessmen.
According to the witnesses, the YouTuber, after recording some shopkeepers, tried to reach security guard namely Gul Hassan to talk about the video shooting. The guard, however, responded by opening fire and left Saad critically injured.
Saad was hit on his shoulder and subsequently he fell down on the ground. The police and the rescue workers reached the spot, and they shifted him to the nearby hospital.
The police took Security Guard Gul Hassan and the weapon into the custody.
The guard told the police that he was provoked by Saad’s action during the video shoot.
“He pointed at me that time,” the guard was quoted by the police as saying.
The police said that Security Guard Gull Hassan is originally from Waziristan and has some language barriers as he could not effectively communicate in Urdu.
