Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid reviewed preparedness and arrangements to combat coronavirus threat in Lahore city at a very important meeting with the authorities at the Deputy Commissioner office here on Sunday.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Danish Afzaal, DIG Operations Rai Babar Saeed and other officials of the district administration. The district team gave a presentation on the existing arrangements.
The minister said security and cleanliness arrangements are in place in Lahore. The minister said, “The awareness campaign on coronavirus will be continued and mosques are being utilized to spread awareness on corona.
‘I appeal the people to observe instructions on social distancing. Even though preparations have been put in place for treatment of suspected and confirmed patients the public must stay at home and prevent the spread of the virus’.
She also ordered scaling up of telemedicine facilities at hospitals and removal of rush from waiting areas in the wake of increasing number of CIVID-19 in Punjab.
The minister said that adequate number of test kits is available and another supply of kits will be reaching shortly in Punjab. She said:
“The private hospitals have been directed to end rush of people in waiting areas. All public gatherings are being stopped. We are starting Telemedicine facility at teaching hospitals for all kinds of medical advice on corona.
Social distancing is a key to prevention. I appeal to the people to stay at home and stop the spread of Corona virus. We are doing all in the realm of possibility to combat the threat.
The healthcare staff is working round the clock to provide services to the people and the figures of suspected and confirmed patients are being shared on regular basis.”
Dr Yasmin Rashid further said that department is working in close collaboration with other departments to ensure best possible response to Corona.
