Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi, marked the 32nd day of its ongoing 38-day World Culture Festival with an engaging theatre and dance workshop, drawing a crowd eager to explore artistic expression and cultural exchange. Renowned international instructors Rafaele Giovanola, Maren Stott, and Jan Martin led the sessions, offering unique perspectives on movement and theatrical arts.

In the dance workshop, Rafaele Giovanola introduced participants to conceptual dance, using exercises that encouraged them to “feel one hand close to the other” without physical contact. The session integrated elements of various dance styles, including hip-hop, to broaden participants’ experience and appreciation of global dance traditions. Meanwhile, the theatre workshop led by Maren Stott challenged attendees to think creatively. Stott shared insights on how humans might “sense the fragrance of earth’s particles,” encouraging participants to embrace joy, let go of negativity, and spread positivity. Practical exercises on vocal sounds and physical movement helped participants understand the expressive techniques used in theatre.

The workshops attracted students and enthusiasts, fostering a lively atmosphere of community bonding and cultural exchange.

The sessions underscored the Arts Council’s commitment to promoting artistic expression, encouraging attendees to engage with new ideas and connect through shared cultural experiences.
