Women Workers Alliance formed to address problems

The Women Workers Alliance, formed to identify and address issues related to working conditions in the women’s workplace, employment rights and related issues, organized International Labor Day in collaboration with TDEA and ERSP. A seminar was held in this regard.

The purpose was to shed light on the problems faced by working women, to ensure their rights and to take steps at the administrative level in this regard, and to put into practice the recent increase in the minimum wage. The seminar was attended by women working in various formal and informal sectors, representatives of social organizations, district officers, Assistant Commissioner Mardan, members of Provincial Assembly, representatives of Mardan Chamber of Commerce, Labor Department and media representatives.

Tehsil Mayor Hamitaullah Mayar attended the seminar as a special guest. Imran Ali, Project Coordinator, IRSP, introduced the IRSP and highlighted the objectives and salient features of the EWAM project. And, discussed the activities undertaken so far under the project in Mardan District. While Ms. Nusrat Ara, Convener of Women Workers Alliance, performed in various workplaces through Women Workers Alliance. He mentioned the problems faced by the monitoring and urged to solve the problems faced by the women workers.
