LAHORE – Authorities in Punjab announced on Wednesday that the winter holidays would be for all public and private higher education institutions in the province.
A notification shared by the Higher Education Department (HED) of Punjab said all colleges will remain closed for winter vacations from December 24, 2024, to January 5, 2025. This winter break will offer students and staff a chance to enjoy the holiday season.
Classes in colleges will resume on Monday, January 6, 2025, with a full academic schedule. However, it was clarified that BS 4-Year programs will continue as usual during the break.
The department also confirmed that all exams, as per the schedules issued by boards and universities, will be conducted without any changes.
Punjab Winter Holidays for Colleges
It is hereby notified that all higher educational institutions, both in public and private sector, under the jurisdiction of the Higher Education Department (HED), Punjab, shall remain closed for winter vacations w.e.f. 24-12-2024 (Tuesday) to 05-01-2025 (Sunday). 2. All colleges (public and private) shall re-open on Monday, 06th January, 2025, resuming full/normal week for all classes.
School Holidays Update
On the other hand, Punjab Education Department revised winter vacation schedule for schools, now starting on December 23, 2024, instead of December 20. The winter break will last until January 10, 2025, reducing the holiday period to 21 days.
Schools will reopen on January 13, 2025. Meanwhile, schools in Sindh, including Karachi, will remain closed from December 21 to December 31, with classes resuming on January 1, 2025. This change provides students and staff with a safe and comfortable winter break.
