Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al-Qasimi, chairperson of The Big Heart Foundation, has directed the organization to provide relief aid worth AED 30 million ($8.1 million) to Palestinians in Gaza, Emirates News Agency reported on Sunday.

The move comes amid Israel’s escalating mili-tary operations in the besieged enclave, which has left its population facing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis without access to food, housing, clean water, electricity, medical supplies, or other needs.

Sheikha Jawaher, wife of the ruler of Sharjah Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al-Qasimi, empha-sized that supporting the Palestinian people is a long-held tradition of the UAE.

She also stated that humanitarian activism for Palestinians was at the heart of the TBHF’s forma-tion, which began with the 2009 Salam Ya Seghar campaign. It launched one of the organization’s main programs, the Palestine Fund.

Sheikha Jawaher urged individuals and institu-tions around the country to donate to these efforts to provide necessities to the Palestinian people.

The Big Heart Foundation’s commitment to supporting the Palestinian people is not a recent development. Since its inception in 2009 with the ‘Salam Ya Seghar’ campaign, the TBHF has been a steady source of aid for Palestinians. This campaign led to the creation of the Palestine Fund, one of the TBHF’s main programs. The current urgency of the situation in Gaza has prompted Sheikha Jawaher to call on individuals and institutions to contribute to the efforts aimed at providing vital necessities to the Palestinian people.

With the humanitarian crisis in Gaza reaching unprecedented levels, the UAE’s Compassion for Gaza campaign has galvanized individuals, organizations, and communities in Dubai to provide relief and support. This collective effort reflects the consistent humanitarian spirit displayed by the UAE’s residents. The TBHF’s donation of AED 30 million will play a crucial role in addressing the unprecedented humanitarian crisis in Gaza, demonstrating the transformative power of collective action and commitment. —APP
