KARACHI – Residents of Sindh and Karachi saw an exorbitant occurrence, a halo in the sky on Saturday.
Halos are certainly not rare in parts of the world but in Pakistan, halo are not everyday happening.
According to Met Experts, the circles of color that appear around the sun are known as sun halos. These halos are created when sunlight passes through ice crystals in the upper atmosphere, typically appearing near the sun or moon.
Sun halos usually occur because light is reflected and refracted by these ice crystals, sometimes splitting into colors due to dispersion.
These halo occur ahead of rain, as the cirrostratus clouds responsible for sun halos can signal the approach of a frontal system.
