LAHORE – Toxic smog will continue to persist as mainly dry weather is expected in Lahore and most districts of Punjab on Sunday night and the next two days.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. A westerly wave will likely approach the northeastern parts of the country on Monday night.
Under these conditions, mainly dry weather is expected in Lahore and most districts of the province on Sunday night and the next two days. Cold weather is predicted in Murree and Galiyat.
Due to the persistent dry weather and atmospheric pollution, smog will likely persist in Lahore, Gujranwala, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Okara, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Khanewal, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur and Multan.
Health professionals have advised citizens to take precautionary measures to save themselves from smog-related hazards. Smog has caused a considerable increase in respiratory, eye and skin ailments. Extra care has been advised for the children, elderly and asthma patients.
Lahore’s minimum temperatures will likely remain between 17°C and 19°C on Monday and Tuesday and between 18°C and 20°C on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, dry weather prevailed in Lahore and most districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Cold weather prevailed in Murree and Galiyat. Smog persisted in Lahore and the plains of Punjab.
Murree remained the coldest place in Punjab, where the minimum temperature was recorded at 08°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 51 per cent.
In Lahore, the minimum temperature was recorded at 18°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 43 per cent.
