Weather outlook of Islamabad, Rawalpindi; more rains likely

ISLAMABAD – Rainfall of varying intensities is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Friday evening/night and Saturday.

As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly wave prevails over Pakistan’s central and upper parts. It will likely persist till March 31.

Under the influence of these conditions, rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, central/upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and northern Balochistan on Friday evening/night and Saturday. Heavy falls are expected at isolated places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir. Dust storm/dust raising winds are likely in southern parts of the country.

Heavy rainfall may trigger landslides in vulnerable areas. Windstorm/hailstorms and lightning may damage standing crops, and loose structures like electric poles and solar panels. Tourists and farmers are advised to remain cautious during the wet period. Temperatures are likely to drop during the wet spell.

Islamabad’s maximum temperatures will likely remain between 25-27 degrees Celsius on Saturday and Sunday.

Rawalpindi’s maximum temperatures will likely remain between 25-27 C on Saturday and Sunday.

Meanwhile, rainfall occurred in parts of Pakistan during the last 24 hours.

Kashmir: Garhi Dupatta 05, Rawalakot 03, Muzaffarabad (Airport, City) 01

Punjab: Sialkot (Airport 04, City 02), Rawalpindi (Kacheri 02, Chaklala 01), Jhang, Mandi Bahauddin, Murree 02, Hafizabad, Kot Addu and Multan (Airport) 01

Mithi remained the hottest place in the country where the maximum temperature reached 40 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 71 per cent.

In Islamabad, maximum temperature was recorded at 26 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 81 per cent.

Rawalpindi recorded a maximum temperature of 25 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 65 per cent.
