ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast mainly cold and dry weather for Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan during the next couple of days.
According to the synoptic situation, a shallow westerly wave is affecting the upper parts of Pakistan.
Under these conditions, mainly cold and dry weather is expected in the twin cities and most parts of the country on Sunday night and the next two days.
However, cloudy weather with light rain and snowfall over mountains is likely in Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir on Sunday night.
Fog/smog is likely to occur in plain areas of Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and upper Sindh during morning and night hours.
Moderate to dense fog may cause closure of portions of Motorways from late night till early morning.
Less visibility will also disrupt vehicular movement on the National Highway.
In Islamabad, the minimum temperature will likely remain between 01-03 degrees Celsius on Monday and Tuesday.
In Rawalpindi, minimum temperature will likely remain between 02-04 C on Monday and 01-03 on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed over most parts of the country during the last 24 hours.
However, rain occurred in upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, northeast Punjab, Kashmir and Kalat and light snowfall in Murree.

Leh remained the coldest place in the country where the mercury dropped 06 C below freezing.
In Islamabad, minimum temperature was recorded at 03 C.
Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 92 per cent.
In Rawalpindi, minimum temperature was recorded at 04 C.
Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 93 per cent.
