Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali, Vice-Chancellor, Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) inaugurated a Mega Water Filtration Plant at Girls Hostel Complex QAU here on Thursday. The water filtration plant was donated by the QAU Alumni Association to facilitate the students residing in the hostel while the Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources, (PCRWR), Ministry of Science & Technology has provided technical assistance and supervised the project.
Sharing the main features of the water filtration plant, Secretary General QAU Alumni Association, Murtaza Noor informed that safe drinking water capacity is 2500 liters per hour. He said the latest filtration plant has the ability to remove all types of contaminants and improve the quality of water. “Regular maintenance like daily backwashing and a weekly microbial quality check will help to maintain the Safe Quality of water from the plant” he added. The daily drinking water supply data will also be monitored to assess per day requirements of the hostel.
The Vice-Chancellor appreciated the contribution of the QAU Alumni Association towards its alma mater. He said alumni are a great asset of this prestigious institution and QAU would continue to benefit from its alumni. The senior member of the QAU Alumni Association, QAU syndicate members, faculty representatives, officers, and employees were also present on the occasion.
