LAHORE – The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) and Traffic Engineering and Planning Agency (TEPA) have unveiled a 3D video of the Bhati Gate–Data Darbar remodelling and expansion project, marking the beginning of a major urban redevelopment initiative aimed at transforming the city’s most historic and congested area.
According to project details, the plan envisions the complete remodelling and expansion of the Data Darbar vicinity, including the widening of Lower Mall, Bhati Chowk, and Mohni Road to ensure smoother traffic flow.
The project also aims to eliminate encroachments and garbage from the surrounding areas of Data Darbar and to develop green zones and organized parking spaces in front of the shrine.
For the convenience of both local and international visitors, the design includes pedestrian walkways, seating areas, and a pedestrian underpass to facilitate safe and easy movement.
The facades of old and dilapidated buildings around Bhati Chowk and Data Darbar will also be restored to preserve the architectural charm of the area.
LDA officials stated that remodelling of inbound and outbound roads will make the area dust-free and better connected, enhancing both mobility and urban aesthetics.
Upon completion, the project is expected to completely transform the appearance of the entire zone, benefiting more than 250,000 vehicles daily that pass through the corridor.
The initiative will also contribute to reducing environmental pollution and upgrading the overall infrastructure of Lahore’s historic center.
