The Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) administration has decided to fill several vacant jobs (BPS-11 to 17) through the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) in a bid to ensure merit.
“Keeping in view the decision in the light of a policy we devised recently, we have initially requested the PPSC for recruitment of 58 sub-engineers (BPS-14) and one medical officer (BPS-17). Recruitment through the PPSC will not only ensure merit but also ease burden on us,” Muhammad Irfan, Wasa’s director (Admin), told Dawn on Saturday.
Wasa was earlier adopting a model of hiring through the National Testing Service (NTS) and other organisations. Though this process was also transparent to some extent, there were complaints regarding the merit. Since the PPSC in the provinces and Federal Public Service Commission in the federal government are the most transparent and trustworthy testing services and free from all kinds of political and financial influence, Wasa decided to opt such services.
“This is for the first time in the history of Wasa that the recruitments are being made through the PPSC.
