Wahab for starting degree programs at nursing institutes

Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab said on Monday that the Karachi Institute of Heart Disease will be improved on the model of the National Institute of Cardiovascular disease. He said this while presiding over the introductory meeting of the governing body of Karachi Institute of Heart Disease.

Deputy Mayor Karachi Salman Abdullah Murad, Deputy Parliamentary Leader City Council Karachi Dil Muhammad, Executive Director Karachi Institute of Heart Disease and members of the governing body were also present. Wahab said that the chest pain unit established at the Karachi Institute of Heart Disease is affiliated to the National Institute of Cardiology through which the patient can be transferred to the National Institute of Cardiology for further treatment after providing first aid.

Separately, Wahab visited the Nursing Institute under construction at Karachi Institute of Heart Diseases and expressed his desire that the two nursing institutes established in Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and Karachi Heart Disease Institute should be activated and improved as soon as possible.

Degree programs should be started in both the institutes without delay, he said and added that the activation of nursing institutes would provide training and employment opportunities to the youth of Karachi and trained nurses would be available to our hospitals who would provide better treatment. He said that the nursing institute located in Abbasi Shaheed Hospital is affiliated to Pakistan Nursing Council.
