Rhetoric

of new conspiracy

PTI Chief Imran Khan is almost revealing a new conspiracy at every rally. Alongside his usual tirades against the iniquities of the state institutions that saw him removed from office, he added another to the conspiracies against him. While the theme of a foreign conspiracy against him has grown familiar, he has added to it the conspiracy to kill him.

The only measure he has taken, he told the rally, was to record a message on a video to be released after his being killed, detailing who the conspirators are. This means that he has claimed the halo of a martyr without actually having gone through the painful experience of being assassinated. Imran Khan’s reluctance to do so says little well about his four years in office at the Centre and now about eight years in KP. Being a responsible citizen, he should bring whatever he knows to the attention of such institutions as are responsible for such assessments.

Mr Khan should realize that Pakistan has had a sitting PM and an ex-PM shot, and another ex-PM hanged. It cannot afford another tragedy. Political capital out of such serious matters is in poor taste, and the government should not wait. Considering how explosive the political situation has become, in no small measure because of Mr Khan’s own incendiary rhetoric, not even an attempt of any kind can be afforded, let alone any untoward happening. Before happening of untoward incident the government should take notice of his new “Conspiracy” of Killing.

Actions speak louder than words

Actions speak louder than words is an old proverb. It was used by John Pym, the contemporary parliamentarian, during English civil war. He explained that there is no need to bark words when your actions speak for you. It depicts that one who wants to succeed in life, should act than speak words. In the history, there are numerous examples.

Like Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah along with his companions made struggle to achieve independent country and faced atrocities of British and Hindus. He came up with this achievement due to only actions rather than words. Nelson Mandela, a South African leader who tried his best to eliminate racism in South Africa. He also fulfilled his mission by actions rather than beating about the bush. It is obvious that actions build one’s character, respect and honesty; where words reveal empty tall promises like birds without wings.

FBs need scrutiny?

After failing in getting fair response from SBP & the CEOs of foreign banks operating in Pakistan with trillions of rupees received from depositors and not contributing towards the basic philosophy of playing role as a Financial Development Institution (FDI or Corporate Banking Institution) during last four decades they have converted into a speculative and exploitative hub only investing in “Treasury Bills of government on higher rates” while their clients are looking for divine intervention.

Now that our financial system and economy are on ventilator due to this free for all under SBP Autonomy Law and an IMF-nominated Viceroy adding fuel to fire, before more water passes under the bridge a detailed examination into the detrimental approach to discourage domestic investors under “Entity Tax Residency Self-Certification Form” & (“Request for Modification.

In Particulars of Customer’s Accounts for Entities (Other than Individual, Joint Account Holders & Sole Proprietorship Accounts” leading to blocking clients account causing loss to account holders, while Bank’s Branch Managers are unable to explain or complete these voluminous forms themselves. And CEOs have become Holy Cows unreachable or traceable only enjoying over millions in salary & perks where contractual bank employees are highly underpaid & hence non-conversant with Banking Laws.

Character assassination in politics

Pakistani politics at times delineate itself as “dirty politics”. Some politicians tend to inculcate the private life and private affairs of their opponents. How does a politician live? What s/he has done in his past life? Marriages? Women Politicians are more prone to character bullying.

This act not only affects their private life but also become a cause of mental torture. This move also discourages other females who want to become a politician in the future. They start thinking that they can also become a victim of this bullying. Social Media has made this inadmissible move easier. Laws are present to punish the people involved but these laws need concrete practicality. There is also a need for a collective effort by the whole society to discourage this shameful act.
