Can war
bring peace?
Although critics believe that war can bring peace and navigate the international patterns to the path of stability and sustainability, war is akin policy to peace and it has ability to persuade an aggressor and can veer the aggression into cooperation. Such as, the Truman Administration decided to drop nuclear weapons to bring a speedy end of the war; Japan surrendered after the scathing consequences of the bombs.
Therefore, it is crystal clear that war can bring peace in the system….. Yet, war is the worst form of terrorism and it can’t lead the globe towards peace and stability. America fought for 20 years in Afghanistan in a bid to counter terrorism, but they failed in their objectives. They did not bring Taliban to their ends, they did not surrender them and they didn’t put their rifles down from their shoulders. Because, violence leads to violence and war leads to more wars. Similarly, the Washington Post has elaborated that USA has spent $760 billion dollars to counter terrorism, but they couldn’t .
Moreover, more than 100000 people have lost their life, but still that war can’t nudge the globe to the path of stability. Because, war can’t lead to peace, but to more wars. Now here a few questions are? Did Iran-Iraq war orchestrate peace in their countries? Did the Gulf war lead the world towards stability? Did American war in Vietnam defeat the Vietcong? Did the aggression of Hutu majority in Rwanda against Tutsi minority bred peace? Did Srebrenica massacre veer into peace? So the answer of all these questions can be summarized in a word – NO. Therefore, it is patent that war can’t lead to peace but to more wars, escalations, devastations and destructions.

Yemeni crisis & food shortage
It is unfortunate to know that the humanitarian crisis in Yemen has been going on unabated with no strong solution in sight. The recent exclusive reports on CNN have just highlighted the sorry state of Yemen and also the poor plight of numerous malnourished children in the region. Big thanks and full credit go to CNN for their extensive coverage of the Yemeni crisis.
There have been plenty of newborn children facing acute malnutrition. Heartrending pictures and their treatment-related difficulties in hospitals have been highly shocking to the core. Meanwhile, the WFP has warned of malnutrition-related child death in great numbers in Yemen.
All these disturbing things cannot be brushed aside by pointing the finger at others. All the stakeholders including the world community must be held accountable to the ongoing Yemen crisis.
Our world is full of opportunities and various activities like agriculture. But incidentally due to the ill-mannered regime and government inaction, Yemen has been literally pushed to the corner of total humanitarian problem.
Right now famine has also been projected to raise its ugly head across the region. The international community should not think twice to help out Yemen through strong food assistance and other financial backup programmes.
I have the strong urge to love the natural world and support greenery activities across the board. Given that Asian continent has been home to beautiful natural world and farming activities for longer time, it is also high time to analyse the possible chances to create and encourage farming activities in Yemen to a greater extent possible. Such well-planned green activities will surely help fight Yemeni crises like shortfall in food and malnutrition.

Nokot incident
Once again, violence again woman has shown its ugly face with full vigour. Around twenty armed men from a local clan assaulted victims’ home at a village near Nokot district Mirpurkhas, abducted two young girls, kept them in captivity for two days and reportedly subjected the hapless souls to physical and sexual violence. The pains of victims are understandably unspeakable. The humiliation and mental anguish they had to face is beyond consolation.
The root of the matter is said to be an honour-related revenge. Is this a way of restoring a ‘lost honor’ ? Can such gross injustice to someone, especially as weak as innocent girls, be simply dubbed as a personal vendetta for settling scores? Where the law-enforcers and institutions of justice are standing in all this? Are they not supposed to protect us from such brutality? And should we not condemn and be seriously doubtful about the whole justice system, if the criminals of such manifest sociopathy are not made to taste the baton of law and loom large only to commit more barbarity against the humanity?
Such incidents create an acute sense of insecurity among the people. It breeds unfaithfulness for institutions. It causes us to believe that law has no role in protecting us from beasts. It makes whole the system objectionable. Those at the helm of affairs should take such incidents with great seriousness, not just to protect us, not even to preventing the injustices from recurring, but to impart a categorical message that institutions are alive and can preserve their sanctity.
We can live with inflation; we can live with debilitated infrastructure; we can live with poor health facilities and all kinds of uncomforts. But we can’t live with a sense that someone can attack our homes, abduct our woman and commit the worst. Transparent investigation into the matter and exemplary punishment to the criminals should not be delayed anymore.
