Murree tragedy
Murree tragic and grisly tragedy left everyone flabbergasted, disconsolate with most perturbing shock having jaw-dropping while learning the sad demise of tourists—who were frozen to death in cars profusely-snow-covered in the hill station of Murree—because of lacklustre performance of administration and government departments.
Murree has witnessed more blizzard in the past than it has had now, had administration and authorities taken abrupt action and pungent measures, we wouldn’t have had such a gruesome episode—creating an ambiance of fear, anxiety, vitiation in the state..
Most annoying and agonizing report to be witnessed is that many local businessmen and selfish behaviour of opportunists exploited the grave situation to a great deal with the demanding of help to the raddled tourists—who were wadded with their cars covered in snow— to be paid them 30000 for propelling their cars out of snow. Moreover, colossal hotel owners too gazumped tourists astronomically and excessively, instead of proffering help in moments of trouble and need. Ill luck would have it; utter paucity of empathy and criminal negligence by administration, authorities and tourism department caused such gruesome episode—leading to dying of innocent 23 lives.
If administration had taken stringent measures timely and promptly, we would have managed to avert avoidable event to be happened. Above all, neither the administration nor the people paid serious, close and thoughtful attention to the stiff caution by the Met Office.

Omicron
Omicron is the fifth wave of covid-19 spreading in the world. It is spreading like a fire in those countries which are having a large number of people. It is worrying that omicron is also spreading terribly in Pakistan and it is also worrying that people seem carefree from this natural force. World Health Organization has declared that Omicron is a serious issue because of which a large number of people will die from all over the world.
The one who had done their booster doses can fight against the virus. So, we have to start following SOPs which were followed by us at that time when first wave of covid-19 was declared. And authorities have to spread awareness to the people if they want to come out from this massive disaster.

Need of women empowerment
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the attention of the public and the concerned authorities on the need of women empowerment. Pakistan has grown since independence but as far as education is concerned, the gap between women and men is severe. While 56% of men are educated but only 44% of women are literate in Pakistan. Women cannot make decisions in their own life. They depend on their fathers or on their husbands for living. So women’s education is the only way that can solve all problems and makes the women self-dependent. Women have to face a lot of misbehaviour and injustice due to their lack of education. But, if we give enough opportunities for education, they can protest against all the injustices. Awareness must be spread among people so that women can get the opportunity of education and lead a happy life.

Drug addiction
Drug addiction has become an alarming issue among teenagers of Pakistan. Most of the people waste lots of money on drugs, and do illegal activities to earn money. The life of addicts becomes ruined in all aspects, as they lose contact with their family and live in different places. Approximately, addiction is a chronic disease which is difficult to control, despite harmful consequences.
Secondly, repeated drug use is extremely dangerous for the brain that can lead to brain changes that challenge an addicted person’s self-control and so on. Similarly, long-term drug use also causes changes in other brain chemical systems and circuits as well affecting functions such as learning, judgement, decision-making, stress, and many more.
No doubt, in spite of being aware of these harmful outcomes, many people continue to take drugs so this is the nature of addiction. Therefore, the concerned authorities are requested to take strict action against drug peddlers and solve this massive issue on a priority basis.

Stop chopping trees
Trees are an essential part of the environment. They make the environment clean and fit for the existence of various species. Life on earth is not possible without trees. They are important to us in many ways. It is not wrong to say that trees give us life. They provide us oxygen and clean the environment by absorbing the poisoned carbon dioxide. Trees are also natural habitat of many animals, birds and insects. Besides this, they also play a vital role to stop natural disasters like soil erosion, flood etc.
Unfortunately, in the modern era people are rapidly involved in chopping the trees for different commercial purposes. Large forests are turning into barren lands which is a serious threat to the world. By each passing day millions of trees are cut worldwide. On the other hand, factories and poisonous gases are increasing which are the cause of global warming and climate change.
The trees are our valuable asset if we continue to exploit them in this way then the living on the planet will be tough for the posterity. We have to understand the importance of trees because their existence is our existence. Thus, we must promote afforestation and discourage activities that are harmful to the tress.
