Heinous
crime of rape

Rape is the most heinous of crimes which can be committed in any society. Under no circumstances should brutal crime of rape be associated with consensual sex between adults.

Sharia Law requiring more than three witnesses is prescribed to prevent immoral activities publicly.

Rape is a crime of violence, which can be committed by a criminal with a sick mindset, who is a danger to society just like those who commit murder, kidnapping for ransom, armed robbery etc.

In all these crimes, scientific forensic evidence including DNA, Videos etc should be acceptable as primary evidence to convict.

Incidences of rape, paedophilia, sexual harassment at the workplace, violence are on the rise despite laws in existence which clearly specify strict punishment for such crimes.

Unfortunately, individuals within law enforcement, investigation and prosecution, including the lower judiciary have a very casual tolerant attitude which serves as an impetus for criminals involved.

Corruption in police thrives when crime flourishes and criminals manage to get away with connivance of the Investigation Officer and SHO of the concerned police station where crime occurs.

It is not just the investigative branch within the police, but a few within the ruling elite of this country, who defiantly have been active in protecting well connected rapists.

On 15 March 2008, a married woman was gang raped within premises of Quaid’s Mausoleum and amongst those accused was Asst Manager Security, a retired officer.

The case prolonged for over 5 years and in May 2013 the CCI issued a decree that DNA could not be accepted as primary evidence and the rapists got away on 6 April 2013 because other than them there were no witnesses.

If scientific evidence can be accepted for other heinous violent crimes, why not for rape, which is as heinous as murder.

Failure of government

Since the examination of the secondary board has started, students were sure to have cheated during the examination because they were motivated by their school teachers.

Even the examination centres have been harshly criticized in social media for their insecurity and got failed to downsize cheating culture.

Even though the cameras were fixed but the students who were accustomed to cheating were not frustrated. Neither they were checked while entering the examination hall.

As a result, the question papers of both classes: ninth and metric were leaked on social media.

This is not the first time, this occurred every year although no action is not taken against these crucial activities.

It shows the sanctimony and unwillingness of education ministers and authorities on the power that they do not want to build up education in the country.

In other words, this year was the worst for education systems as the coronavirus hit everything back; meanwhile the students have the best time to prepare for exams unfortunately no one did.

The high authorities are requested to take stern action against the tragedy which is destroying the life of students including the education system of Pakistan.

Polio in remote areas

In the 20th century, polio became one of the major diseases of the world. It reached its highest rate in the 1940s and 1950s.

Now in the 21st-century polio has been eradicated from the world except a few counties like Pakistan and Afghanistan.

African countries have controlled the spread of poliovirus, but this is an issue that is still active in Pakistan and its neighbouring country Afghanistan.

There are certain reasons that poliovirus is still active in Pakistan. In Pakistan, the situation is controlled in other provinces except for KP. We share our border with Afghanistan.

The people there mostly live in the form of tribes and usually do not follow the instructions of the government.

Some of the major reasons include illiteracy, conflicts with government and governmental institutes, religious misconceptions.

They usually think vaccination is prohibited in religion, and many other reasons are there. They hamper the efforts made for the vaccination against poliovirus.

So, the people are directly associated with transmission of the disease. GPEL is making efforts to eradicate the disease from Pakistan.

The National Emergency Action Plan is being implemented for the eradication of polio-endemic.

According to statistical data, there were 146 and 84 cases of polio in 2019 and 2020, respectively.

If the government works more effectively and the people of these remote areas support the government, Pakistan is most likely to be free from poliovirus within two years or so.
