India sabotage CPEC

The relationship between Pakistan and India have long been under topsy-turvy on multiple matters. Most recently, India is in search of sabotaging China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) through financing the outfits of terrorist operating in the country. Pakistan is much determined in this case, and has collected maximum evidences against Indian tactics in disturbing peace and security in Pakistan. Many leading reports, like dossier, clarify that money transaction to Indian diplomats working in Afghanistan is categorically signalling the actual financial support to terrorist organizations. New Delhi is also training terrorists in the camps in Kandahar, Afghanistan which is, at any cost, not acceptable under international law.
Since Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) are commonly recognized terrorist organizations working to sabotage the image of Pakistan. India has keen interest to further intensify the matter through providing arms and ammunition to such groups. Recently, India has targeted two officers of the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP). All above-mentioned blatant tactics made by India are clearly depicting the complete violation of international law, the principle of non-intervention and humanitarian law. Since New Delhi is also the member of convention on non-intervention, Islamabad should ask international forums to punish Indian violation of international law.

Tackling the new strain

The new strain of Coronavirus has emerged in the UK with more transmissibility and more vulnerability towards the children and younger people. Its anticipated global spread has compelled many countries to close borders and suspend flights with the UK, as Pakistan has also suspended flight operations with that country. This has set off alarm bells for Pakistan which is already facing difficulties to contain the second wave of the pandemic.
The spread of this new variant of virus will be fatal for this country. Therefore, it is a good time to make all-out efforts before the new strain wreaks havoc in Pakistan. A well-coordinated campaign under the banner of NCOC is required to make the general masses more compliant to Corona SOPs. Government also needs to strictly implement all policies devised to tackle the rapid spread of Coronavirus in the country. For this, the Government needs to work on a war footing.

Misogynistic politics

The prevalent insolent and misogynistic political and social culture in country is aggrandizing by each passing day. The social and electronic media is playing its role in intensifying this disrespectful culture for ladies and especially for dynamic ladies in politics, arts, media and other fields. The feminism and stereotypical ‘Mera Jism Meri Marzi’ debate is out of the context here. Despite a woman, being human being each one of us has a right of establish an opinion according to our intellect and this should be respected, whether it is from a man or a woman.
Regardless of the political disagreement on opinions and agendas, recent shameful twitter trends against The First Lady of Pakistan Bushra Bibi and Maryam Nawaz, showed the deteriorated morality and mentality of our nation. But this trend is not new, we have seen this character assassination and trolling trend in the past for other vibrant ladies like Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah, Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, Shehla Raza, Sheerin Mazari, Zartaj Gul, Sheri Rehman, Hina Rabbani Khar, Asma Jahangir, Tehmina Durrani, Malala Yusufzai, Sharmeen Obain Chinoy, Mukhtaran Mai and the list continues. In recent times, social media has intensified this trend. The matter of grave concern is when the women of the opposing opinion from other side started the character assassination campaign against the same gender.
This is utterly shameful and subconsciously normalizes the society towards degradation of women as a tool of psychological and emotional pressure. This should be stopped before it’s too late. Mahatma Gandhi once said, “Of all the evils for which man has made himself responsible, none is so degrading, so shocking or so brutal as his abuse of the better half of the humanity; the female sex”

Metropolitan issues of Karachi

Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I want to express my concern over the problems in our city of lights due to increased pollution. The effects of pollution are a larger number, but two main categories which are significantly devastating our surrounding are environmental and health problems. Air pollution, lack of proper waste management infrastructure and degradation of water bodies are the major environmental issues of Karachi.
Regardless of these issues, another issue that the citizens of Karachi are facing is security issues. According to BBC, Karachi has earned a reputation as Pakistan’s most dangerous city due to the high rate of gang violence. Therefore, the issues are undoubtedly grave but at the same time to find a solution to these issues is a crying need. Under the circumstances, we appeal to the concerned authorities to take restrictive and fruitful measures on time to nip the scourge in bud. Law itself is not enough to stop this until and unless each and every individual becomes aware and conscious about what is happening.

Mismanagement

It is hard to celebrate international migration day without highlighting the number of Zimbabweans who have migrated to other countries in the last two decades particularly South Africa, Botswana and Namibia. Thousands of Zimbabweans have crossed Limpopo River with crocodiles into South Africa putting a strain to public services in South Africa.
It is terrifying that an estimated seven million Zimbabweans have fled to other countries with South Africa as the main popular destination. The pattern of migration from Zimbabwe has been caused by poor governance and mismanagement of country resources. South Africa is now the home of an estimated five million Zimbabweans. South African President should earnestly and diligently raise the issue of mismanagement in Zimbabwe in order to stop the continuous flow of Zimbabweans into South Africa.
If the South African President remains silent about the human rights issues in Zimbabwe and economic meltdown, then South Africa will soon be overwhelmed by another three million Zimbabweans in the next five years. South Africa has high unemployment, impoverished indigenous residents, high crime rates, poor public services and cannot be forced to endure more strain and be burdened indirectly by a neighbouring country where careless, clueless, corrupt, heartless, reckless ZANU PF government are failing even to provide the very basic.
