Time for introspection
As we celebrate 73rd Anniversary of our independence, it is time for introspection and why we failed to adopt Quaid-e-Azam’s vision of a modern democratic welfare state and his advice to paid civil and uniformed officers on 14 June 1948 while addressing them at Staff College Quetta. Today we collectively suffer the consequences of this betrayal by a few. Our failures and embarrassments overshadow our achievements. Had we treaded MAJ’s vision, Pakistan would not have suffered humiliation it endured in 1971.
Our sovereignty was compromised at the altar of greed of a few ambitious men. The national interest was overlooked in 1962, when Chinese advice to capitalize the sole golden opportunity to liberate the IoK, which Quaid had termed as our Jugular Vein, was ignored.
Individuals, hostage to their greed and weaknesses, succumbed to temptations like gifting of Gandhara Motors in 1963. A few corrupt men pilfered millions of CIA dollars given to fund Afghan proxy war.
In the process, these few went from rags to riches, while hundreds of thousands lost their lives to scourge of terrorism and the economy suffered. A country created through political struggle waged by men of intellect and integrity became hostage to a few who lacked both vision and capacity to lead and realize that investment in human resources was vital. Pakistan, once a country with a strong based agricultural economy sufficient to feed its population, is today forced to import basic food items, whilst existing green agriculture land is diminishing, converted to concrete jungles by land mafia. All state institutions exist to serve the people, not vice-versa.

Why online classes are not effective
There is a lack of willingness and desire to learn. Students are simply not motivated in online classes. And the biggest disadvantage of taking an online class is the absence of face to face interaction between teacher and students.
Online classes also require either computer or laptop and a reliable internet connection, not all students have access to these types of resources.

Respect national flag
Independence Day is a day to celebrate with the hoisting of the national flag, recitation of our national anthem, singing patriotic songs and organising social and cultural programmes. We should keep remembering the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters who fought bravely for our country’s emergence and pay our due respect to them.
But sadly, after every Independence Day celebrations, the country’s national flag is strewn on roads and people keep stamping on them. We should respect our country’s national flag. Such kind of people who show disrespect for the national flag should be put behind bars.
