Short video vandalisation
We are living in strange times as any social media engagement tool is being taken to its maximum limits, not recognizing the adverse impact. This came to my realization because of a discussion between me and a friend of mine. We were having our routine talk as we started discussing the reels on social media platforms that out of every 10 reels, 9 reels have vulgar content at its central point, either boys or girls mingling, dancing in universities, on roads, on every spot they can find.
Now I am not a traditional person and am present on all social media platforms. I also know that these follow a search configuration, so that they keep on sharing the reels that you might have searched but seeing Islamic reels and suddenly a vulgar reel is next to it, I just cannot comprehend it.
Secondly, the content that is being shown is absolutely disgusting and not at all relevant to even modern Islamic even modern western culture. I also just cannot emphasize enough on the additive part of these social media reels. Platforms were as addictive as they can get and now these reels are making the attention span of the current generation squeezed up to 5 seconds which is horrible. This generation cannot tolerate or worse, even understand a video that is more than a minute long.
I can go on and on but this subject cannot be fully covered. I may be even writing another 2 or 3 pieces of this specific monster of an issue. RI will be heading a focus group with the same theme in discussion and will be sharing the results.

Urban chaos
Saddar Market in Karachi is facing several environmental problems, prominently including air pollution resulting from heavy traffic and inadequate waste management leading to widespread littering. These issues are worsened by the unhealthy air quality in Karachi, classified as such due to the concentration of PM2.5 being 6.8 times higher than the annual air quality guideline value set by the WHO.
To effectively address these issues, we can implement a few solutions. This involves promoting the use of public transportation and carpooling to alleviate traffic congestion and reduce emissions. Simultaneously, enhancing waste management practices, such as increasing the number of waste bins and imposing strict penalties for littering, is imperative to maintain cleanliness in the market area.
Furthermore, awareness campaigns targeting both shopkeepers and visitors are crucial to underscore the significance of environmental conservation and proper waste disposal. Additionally, initiatives like tree planting and the creation of green spaces within and around the market can mitigate air pollution and enhance the overall ambiance.
Hawkers and street vendors cater to the majority of individuals passing through Saddar. Due to their hectic schedules, these customers are unable to thoroughly explore the market. Additionally, they serve the lower-middle-class and middle-class transit population’s socioeconomic needs, something that many formal establishments do not. Hawkers will continue to guarantee their presence in the market by giving bribes to the police, traffic police, and city administration because of this need and commercial opportunity.
To tackle the environmental issues at Saddar Market, it’s crucial for all of us to come together and make a real commitment to making a difference. By taking steps like encouraging the use of public transportation, enhancing waste management practices, spreading awareness, and embracing the beauty of nature, we can transform the market into a more eco-friendly and sustainable place that benefits everyone.

Learning
at APS
Based on my experience at the Army Public School (APS) system in Pakistan, I’ve witnessed both the positive and negative aspects of our educational system. Access to excellent schooling remains a challenge, with numerous pupils from underprivileged families hampered by budgetary limitations and a lack of facilities in distant places.
Teacher preparation is critical, well-prepared educators change brains and inspire leaders. Investing in their development dramatically improves student results. Furthermore, through offering teachers with opportunities for ongoing professional development, schools may guarantee that they are up current on the latest teaching methodologies and technological advancements, fostering a dynamic and engaging atmosphere for learning that prepares students to thrive in an ever-changing world.
Despite hurdles, APS promotes holistic growth, emphasizing not only academic brilliance but also character and leadership qualities. It fosters friendship and patriotism, instilling pride in serving the country.
My APS experience has been revolutionary, influencing my knowledge and ideals. While certain aspects require work, I am glad for the lessons taught. Let us strive for a better educational future in Pakistan.

Robberies
I am worried about the recent robberies happening in our neighbourhood (Shabir lane main Peshawar Road, Rawalpindi). It’s scary to see this happening where we live. We need more police to keep us safe. They should patrol our area more often to catch the robbers and stop more robberies from happening.
Everyone should also watch out for anything suspicious and tell the police right away if they see something wrong. We also need to find ways to stop crime from happening in the first place. This might mean helping young people stay out of trouble or making our neighbourhood safer. Let’s work together to keep our neighbourhood safe for everyone.

Erratic gas supply
The erratic supply of natural gas. For weeks now, residents in our area have endured frequent disruptions to the gas supply, causing inconvenience and concern. Despite efforts to address the issue, little progress has been made, leaving many households without reliable access to this essential utility. The unreliable gas supply not only inconveniences residents but also poses safety risks, especially during colder months. Urgent action is needed from the responsible authorities to address this issue promptly and ensure a consistent and reliable gas supply for our community. I urge officials to prioritize this matter and take swift action to alleviate the hardships faced by residents.
