Epitome of education
Education has always been of paramount importance. In pursuance of the same, establishment of Cadet College Larkana came into existence. Since 1994 the college has neither looked back nor stopped championing the cause of spreading education in interior of Sindh. It is providing the quality education to the downtrodden class of society and having special focus on less-privileged students.
It is just because of untiring and incessant endeavours put in by the faculty of the college that today the students are serving on key posts in military and civil bureaucracy. The scheme of education at Cadet College Larkana is designed in such a way that it encompasses mental, moral and physical education of students.
Cadet College Larkana is fully equipped with state- -of-the-art facilities, may it be sports grounds, science labs, library, IT labs, language labs, multimedia class rooms, gigantic auditoriums, world class swimming pool, saddle club, boarding houses and what not.
The professional grooming is not only confined to students but it is equally rendered to the faculty. The faculty members are PhD and M.Phil scholars. There is no exaggeration in saying that Cadet College Larkana is really a blessing for the people of Pakistan, especially interior Sindh.

Light pollution
Light pollution is a thing. And few people like me who are interested in astronomy are aware and concerned about it. Light pollution is excessive, misdirected or inappropriate outdoor lightening which leads to less visibility of the stars in the night sky and washes out our view of the universe. And this is not just about the stars it matters because it’s an environmental problem that should be confronted and solved.
Excessive usage of artificial lightning can cause multitude of problems from human health issues to disrupting wildlife and ecosystem. It’s also causing huge waste of energy and fossil fuel. Each year millions of tonnes of CO² is released which is concerning. For Pakistan, a country grappling with energy and air pollution, the necessity of addressing the challenge of light pollution cannot be overemphasized.
The best way to combat light pollution is to turn unnecessary lights off at night. If that isn’t possible, usage of fully shielded, light efficient savers can prevent light from reaching unwanted areas so that it can be decreased to a certain level and we can admire the beauty of our cosmos.

Damaged road
Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I would like to draw the attention of the authorities concerned towards the damaged road. The condition of the road is deplorably poor and unsatisfactory. The road is replete with pits and ditches which are usually filled with dirty and sewage water. The road was last repaired more than a decade ago. Now its condition is very miserable.
Many accidents have taken place because of this broken road. It has become virtually impossible for the patients and sick people to travel on these jumpy, jolty and jerky roads leading to the main hospital of the city.
We have complained about this several times at the district office but no action has been taken. Therefore, I request you to kindly highlight this issue.

Global warming
Global warming is increasing day by day because of the continuous increase in the levels of greenhouse gasses. Such gases have a tendency to trap heat from many sources like sun, electricity, burning coal, burning fuels, etc and prevent them from escaping back to the atmosphere. Thus, the collective effect of all the greenhouse gases increases temperature on the earth and gives rise to many dangerous problems.
Earlier, the earth was so cool and every natural cycle was going timely, however, nowadays lots of dramatic fluctuations in the weather, climate, temperature, health, etc take place. A vast increase in the temperature, sea level and weather patterns has been seen clearly in the last few decades.
A little fluctuation in the level atmospheric carbon dioxide may cause a high level significant effect on the global temperature. The continuous rise in the percentage of atmospheric carbon dioxide is alarming us by its dangerous effects, however, we are still ignoring it. Increasing need of fossil fuels (such as coal, oil and gasoline) by the people of industrial civilization is giving the opportunity to rise in carbon dioxide emissions.
Deforestation is also causing an increase in the carbon dioxide through decreasing the number of plants and exposing soil to the sunlight. Trees are the best source to absorb CO2 from the atmosphere, however, what happens if we finish the main source of reducing CO2 level.
Our malpractices just to live luxurious life on a daily basis are hugely altering the environment as well as endangering the life of people in return. A little rise in the level of greenhouse gases may hugely affect global warming.

Rash driving
The middle class and lower class travels by bus, especially students and workers including older citizens. It is a very convenient and cheap way of travelling but the bus drivers make this ride difficult by rushing on roads at high speed just to win races with other drivers for fun. It is all fun if a person is not thinking about elderly, ill or injured person which is indeed, very inhumanely.
There are people standing in the bus as well who can fall on the sitting passengers. The person standing can be an adult in his 60s and so can be the passenger. There is a high chance of falling down from the bus if someone loses control. Not to mention the increasing possibilities of accidents and lives at risk due to this “enjoyable” activity of bus drivers.
This issue can be very well solved if there are certain laws and rules made against high speed of bus drivers and challans added with strict notice, I believe the ride can be most convenient out of all for all age groups.

Malfunctioning traffic signals
I would, through the courtesy of your prestigious newspaper, like to write this letter to express my concern about the malfunctioning traffic signals in Lahore. The traffic signals in several areas of the city are not functioning properly, causing great inconvenience to commuters. Traffic jams have become a common phenomenon on the roads of Lahore due to this issue. The problem has been persisting for quite some time now, and it seems that the authorities are not taking any concrete steps to fix this issue. The traffic signals at major intersections such as M.M. Alam Road, Ferozepur Road and Mall Road are often out of order or simply not working leading to utter chaos on the roads. Furthermore, the absence of traffic signals has made it difficult for commuters to observe traffic rules and abide by them. In the absence of proper signals, drivers often resort to rash driving leading to accidents and fatalities.I urge the relevant authorities to take immediate action and address this issue on an urgent basis. The installation of modern traffic signals and their proper maintenance is the need of the hour to ensure the safety of commuters on roads of Lahore. It is essential that the authorities take immediate steps to resolve this problem before any more damage is done.
